Wilmington is looking to spend approxamately $42M on a stadium for the Atlanta Braves' Single A farm team.  With interest and operating costs, the cost will balloon by tens of millions.

Wilmington does not need this.  We have organized a citizens' initiative to put city funding for a ball stadium to a public vote.

Wilmington is one of twelve North Carolina cities that allows for a citizens' initiative, essentially a citizens-introduced ordinance.  If we get about 2900 signatures, 25% of the number of people who voted in the last municipal election, the City Council will need to approve the ordinance as-is or put it to a public vote.

We need YOUR help.

We have made the petitions available for download.  Simply click the links below and return them to us via the contact information at the bottom of the petition.

Get your friends to sign them as well!  You can help bring us one step closer to victory.

We have also included two other petitions in order to capitalize on our momentum.  One is to put city purchase orders and construction change orders online.  Another is to put any single city expenditure of more than fifteen million dollars to a public vote of the citizens.

These three petitions are separate and you can sign as many or as few as you choose.

Thank you for your help, and hopefully we can defeat public funding for the ball stadium.
